The Divine Desiree and Me

It was so much fun to meet up with  DD Desiree from Pull Your Socks Up yesterday.I really wanted to surprise her but LL didnt want to rock up and  have no one   home.So I called her while she was at the supermarket and asked if she had her glad rags on and as you can see in the pics she did.All bar the hat (which I just gave her) was what she wore shopping isnt she just gorgeous?
I must get some posing lessons from DD
My outfit is opped and not vintage sadly but worn alot usually without tights.

I pinched this of DDs post love it.Have no clue what LL said but it must have been funny.
Little Miss 4.5 got in the shots too but the sun hurt her eyes so she didnt want to smile anymore as you can see on Desirees post.
I just wish I could have stayed longer as we would have had such a great time.I got to see her wardrobe of stunning items wow she has such beautiful things and she is such a warm and beautiful person just like on her blog.
The darling gave Miss4.5 a dolls house too I couldnt belive it as I was on the hunt for one for the little miss anyway.I will post a pic soon,as its at LLs house for now.
A big hug for the doll house.

Before we drove to see DD we hit the oppies at Paddington in Brissie but they all know how to charge for their clothes all retro shop prices. But I did manage to find this awesome leather briefcase for a tenner and this gorgeous lace top that I think I shall dye a deep green as I am not a white wearing person as a rule.

Got the top and briefcase here from St Vinnies in an old chuch was so beautiful.

And more not for sale props. This was a lunch box from the 50s I presume? Can just see a golliwog and kiss doll below.LL wanted a John Cougar Melancamp Vinyl record but they wanted $10 for it.
This Retro shop didnt open till 10 even tho they saw us outside looking would have been so expensive tho.Check out the red oufit I only just noticed now lol.We left at 9:55 had to get to DDs.

After seeing DD we travelled up to the Sunshine coast and to Caloundra opshops LL had googled all oppies (her idea not mine I promise) all up the coast plenty left for next time.
I bought this dressing gown for $2 as it was half price day
The next couple were ridiculously priced! Endeavour and Red Cross are way over priced these days they wanted $2 each for Notebook mags I dont pay over $1 for any old mags ever. And Endos books are getting way too high in heir prices everywhere I go to them. They did have some gorgeous vintage peices up high but they were all props.Singer sewing machines and old typewriters baskets of old sporting equipment etc.No pics was way too upmarket to stay there long.
We did find the Salvos in an arcade that was ok I bought these boots for $4 a dress and  2 enamelled bangles. They also had some gorgeous vintage pieces of jewellery but high prices.
Enamelling is on top and inside.
This newish boho dress.

Around the corner was a tiny thrift shop (more my speed.) I got this cute bed jacket $1 and this beautiful petticoat/slip for $2.

Then LL had one more to hit before we started for home it was Lifeline and it was HUGE.
LL got me 2 Notebook mags that I dont have in my collection  for 70c each ( more my price) and she found books for her collection.
The vintage dresses (which werent very many) were way over priced too.So I only bought the mags and few toys for the other grandies plus this  potporri avon hand.
and these finds were from the 1st day that I mentioned  last time plus the old 1979 mag and lots of wooden hangers and the Fireking mug x3 just like my mummy always used as her favourite mug.

We made it home at about 8pm as LL wanted to detour into another town to buy herself a row machine to add to her gym gear (little miss fitness she is)

I am now sick with head cold thanks to the air con all day at the hospital ,hope I didnt pass it to you DD.

Miss 4.5 is at home again today red eyes are fading and she is doing well.
 This was 1st night
This was this morning.
Oh and the Captain and the kids survived but you can tell I have been away the house is even messier than usual.

Love Nelly
PS Kitty I will visit you if I am ever down Mt Tambourine or we get to meet up in Brissie sorry I missed you this time xxx .I will also visit  Katherine and Kristen at   The Old Boat House too.

Now am I going to rest my weary  blocked head and dripping nose xx

Caloundra and Paddington are shocking for op shops, my mother spent 2 weeks in Cal. in February and trawled every single opppie on the Sunshine Coast for me and came back with SFA. And don't get me started on Retro Metro, he's the most expensive retro shop in Australia...he often buys from me at (my) full retail price then takes the item to his shop and triples the price, he has heaps of stuff over
$600 in there.

Oh the pic of the little darling having a hug is adorable!! You are a wonderful person Nelly and I'm so happy you came to visit! I think we could have spent hours and hours talking - our meeting was just the tip of the iceberg wasn't it? You hit the nail on the head about Brisbane oppys - I very rarely buy clothes from them now as they're just way too expensive!! I can pick stuff up on eBay for peanuts compared to here. Even books and mags can be expensive - Endeavour Foundation and Lifeline are too expensive for me now. The boots look fabulous and I can just see you in them and I love the little Avon hand. So sorry to hear you've got a cold - hospitals are poison!!! xo

@Kitty It's been so long since I've travelled far and wide to trawl op shops - Paddo was great about 3-4 years ago but I guess it's been awhile since I've been out and about - vintage is a rapidly growing industry and you're right about vintage retail in cities - nightmare!!! xoxoxo

Lot of wonderful finds. I like the idea you had about using the green dye. How cool is it that you got to meet DD in person! Wow! I'm thrilled for you both! And if your daughter gets any sweeter, we're all going to have sugar fits! Lol! She looks wonderful! The things modern medicine can do.

Argh! I messed up my return post formatting, tried to fix, accidentally deleted my return comment to you and your comment to me! But the main post is still up. That took me a long time to research and write. :) Okay. Done venting. Thanks for popping in, Nelly!
