I am soooo Proud of my Laura

I must be an all right teacher of junk and treasure shopping coz My lovely darling Laura (who was not a opshopper or collector till recently )went garage saling this morning and look what she found.(have given up making pics bigger sorry, caused too much dramas doing that last time)
This one is 26inches high and 38 inches long  and was $5 by  Vincent
This one has a small amount of water damage and one scratch $2.Its  81 inches in length 43 inches wide. Artist is Leo Jansen,
This one has lots of water damage and needs a good clean but I have plans to get her recopied and fixed,She was also $2 same size as one above by Leo Jansen also
All 3 above were from one Gsale.Laura bought last 2 and saw 1st one then left then went to next sale saw the one below and went back and got 1st one (lucky no vintage people were there. She said they were hidden behind other things.

This one another Vincent  is gorgeous too 24x45.5inches in size in perfect condituon she paid $20 tried talking him down but apparently he had only just bought it at another sale the week before so must have wanted a profit. So glad he didnt google the name tho lol

See why I am so proud of her,She just wishes she had found them last weekend prior to my anniversary as she searched everywhere for something for me. lol
My dream is to one day own my own junk and vintage store.selling things like this furniture and vintage clothing.,This will only happen if I can let things go.I love it all.I dont know how others can get rid of their things but any tips would be great.

Below are some of the things I got for my anniversary (also got  a gift voucher at a beauty salon from hubby poor love had no clue what to get me) Clock with all the grandkids pics (this made me cry was so lovely)

Small clocks LOVE the tv ones A new collection me thinks.
And another movie book.Have lots of these sort in my collection.
Got lots more but better leave you to drool over the prints for a bit

Happy Hunting,

xxx

Ah lovely, you are definitely doing something right!

The other day after I had fished painting a little cupboard, India said 'Great' and took it to her room. I asked why she wanted it, she said that she was going to put her favourite Littlest Pet Shops in. 'They are my collection mum!'. Smile.

As for the letting go, I find it very hard, but I do buy things to sell that I like but do not need to keep. It is hard though.

Enjoy your afternoon, Tamara x

p.s. Happy Anniversary to you and yours.

I find it almost impossible to let things go too - I've always loved those nudes from the 60s. I collect portraits of women and would snap all of these up them up and have them up on my wall before you could say "pert nipples" - haaaaa!!!

Took one GD opshopping and she found a travel clock she so wanted it was only $2 I thought it be nice with my collection but she has hoooked it and put in her room now lol.

Oh! What lovely photos your daughter found! I am proud of you both for not being afraid to admire the Nudes. They are all very beautiful...and what a fund, indeed! She has gained the treasure-seeking gene from you, Nelly! Wow! The clocks are beyond awesome, especially the TV.

Oh, that one with the grand-kids would surely make me cry, too! What a nice surprise for you...you are truly blessed, my friend.

Cheers! TWN

Uh, "fund" was supposed to read "find" but perhaps that just means you should send your young Laura to antique school. The two of you could run the Vintage Australia shop together!

Cheers! TWN

Nice scores on the prints, Leo Jansen is quite a collectable artist, if you look at pics of the retro room in my shop you'll see one on the wall. If you're looking to be a seller, one major tip I'll give you is to be aware/mindful of the correlation between damage and value, as it is a big one.

As for letting things go, what Sue and I do is keep things for a while and enjoy them before onselling them- usually about 8 months or so. Another idea is to strongly theme your collections- so for example rather than saying 'I collect clocks', narrow it down to a certain kind, colour, style, maker or era of clocks. Bonus of this method is that everything will match or fit together really well (if!) when you go to display or sell it. Third idea is one that an antique dealer friend of mine does- she made herself the rule that every time she buys something she has to sell something, that way the collection never goes beyond a given size.

@Kitty Thanks for the tips Kitty being a seller of this type has been a dream of mine for years I am sure it will happen when the time is right.

I'm postively lusting after those beauties. I cannot resist a framed lady as you know.
Like Kitty, to stop my collections getting out of hand I always sell at least two items to make way for a new one. xxx
